James ‘Mac’ McCallum Spokane

Memorial service for James Malcolm “Mac” McCallum is set for 11 a.m. Monday at Knox Presbyterian Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McCallum, who died Monday, was born in Eugene, Ore.

He received a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Butler University School of Theology and a Doctor of Theology degree from Pacific School of Religion at Berkeley.

Mr. McCallum worked in California and Egypt before he and his wife, Faith, returned to California in 1957.

He then served in Eugene, California and Oklahoma before moving to Wilbur, Wash., in the 1970s.

He was a member of the Presbytery of the Inland Northwest.

He was pastor of Wilbur Community Presbyterian Church for nine years and then served in Spirit Lake, Idaho, Rathdrum and Athol, Idaho. He retired in 1988, and the family moved to Spokane.

During retirement he served as interim pastor at University Community Presbyterian Church in Fairbanks, Alaska, and taught at Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka, Alaska.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Faith McCallum; four sons, John, Stephen and Christopher McCallum, all of Seattle, and Mark McCallum, of Nampa, Idaho; and three sisters, Miriam Fulton of Fresno, Calif., Vera Logan of Tulsa, Okla., and Marybeth Cook of Davis, Calif.

Jane Iron Spokane

Memorial service for Jane “Kitty Inez” Iron, 71, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Private burial will precede. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Iron died Tuesday at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Wash., where she was visiting.

She was born in Knoxville, Tenn.

She and her husband, Joseph Iron, had lived in Spokane for 42 years.

She was a member and deacon at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Audubon Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years; two daughters, Dee Young of Spokane and Sue Adams of Longview, Wash.; one son, John Iron of Veradale; and several grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Milton Schanzenbach Fairfield

Service for Milton Schanzenbach, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield. Burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home of Fairfield is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Schanzenbach, who died Wednesday, was the owner of Schanzenbach Funeral Homes in Fairfield and Rosalia, Wash., for more than 35 years.

He was born in Bowdle, S.D.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, the Waverly (Wash.) Masonic Lodge, the Inland Empire Funeral Directors Association, the Washington State Funeral Directors Association, the El Katif Shrine and the Rockford Lions Club.

His wife, Rita, preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Kerry Schanzenbach of Rosalia and Kurt Schanzenbach of Honolulu; three brothers, Wilton Schanzenbach of Chewelah, Wash., and Mahlon and Herbert Schanzenbach, both of Los Angeles; three sisters, Eileen Yates of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Erna Becker of Yakima and Lucille Brown of Wapato, Wash.; and three grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

Ruby Wilson Spokane

Service for Ruby Jean Wilson, 110, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Wilson, who was born in Atlantic, Iowa, died Wednesday.

Eighty years ago she and her husband, Fred Wilson, moved to Rockford, where they had a ranch. He died in 1969.

Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Geraldine Sanders of Spokane; two sons, Jack Wilson of Post Falls and Bill Wilson of Spokane; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four greatgreat-grandchildren.

Marjorie Borhauer Spokane

Service for Marjorie L. Borhauer, 75, will be held at a later date. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Borhauer, who died Tuesday, was born in Culdesac, Idaho.

A homemaker, she was a member of Centenary Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Francis Borhauer; two sons, Gerald Borhauer of Yakima and Larry Borhauer of Spokane; two daughters, Louise Borhauer of Redmond, Wash., and Margaret Hyde of Cosmopolis, Wash.; one brother, Ted Persons of Kennewick; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Linnsey Wheeler Loon Lake, Wash.

Service for Linnsey Lee Wheeler, 73, is set for 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wheeler died Wednesday.

He was born in Helix, Ore., and graduated from Chewelah (Wash.) High School in 1940.

He served in World War II and received the Distinguished Service Cross.

He was a logging contractor for 21 years and moved to Spokane in 1969. In Spokane he operated the Whitworth Repair Service for 20 years. He retired in 1989.

He was a member of the North Hill Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marion Wheeler; one son, Jim Wheeler of Moses Lake; two daughters, Norma Joyce Wheeler of Johnson Valley, Calif., and Judith Wheeler of Victorville, Calif.; one brother, Walter Wheeler of Anchorage, Alaska; and four grandchildren.

Johnnie Mae Madison Spokane

Graveside service for Johnnie Mae Madison, 90, was private.

Mrs. Madison, a 52-year Spokane area resident, died Monday. She was born in Maryville, Tenn.

She had worked as a cook in restaurants for many years.

Her husband, Roy Madison, died in 1966.

Mrs. Madison is survived by three sons, Jack Madison of Port Angeles, Wash., and Thomas Madison and Roy Madison, both of Spokane; three daughters, Joyce Nelson, Alma June Williams and Patty Ann Green, all of Spokane; four brothers; and numerous grandchildren.

Orin Little Spokane

Graveside service for Orin A. Little, 90, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Moscow (Idaho) City Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Little, a longtime Spokane resident, died Wednesday.

He was born in Johnson, Wash., and graduated from Moscow High School.

He was a wheat and cattle farmer in Johnson and moved to Spokane in 1950.

Mr. Little was a member of the United Church.

His wife, Perle died in 1980.

He is survived by 10 nieces and nephews, including Ray Sawyer of Cheney, Lillian Mitzimberg of Moscow and Naomi Dunbar of Montana.

Shirley Anderson Spokane

Memorial service for Shirley E. Anderson, 59, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Millwood Masonic Temple, with private inurnment. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Anderson, who had lived in Spokane for 37 years, died Monday.

She was born in Wilbur, Wash., and graduated from high school in Omak, Wash., in 1953.

She was a homemaker and worked as a legal secretary for the Justice Department for 14 years.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Ronald; three daughters, Christi Sanders of Germany, and Lynette Carroll and Susan Rae Anderson, both of Spokane; and one granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Anna Syth Sandpoint

Service for Anna G. Syth, 79, will be at 1 p.m. today at Coffelt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Syth, who was born in Blaine County, Mont., died Wednesday.

She grew up in the Havre/Chinook, Mont., area and moved to Sandpoint in 1951, with her husband, Ted Syth. He died in 1989.

She had worked for the Hayworth Bakery.

She is survived by five daughters, Del Dixon of Spokane, Ardella Montgomery of Clarkston, Wash., Tootie Capdeville of Lakeside, Mont., Glenda Hanley of Showlow, Ariz., and Sheila Olmstead of Pasco; three stepdaughters, Joann Lovett of Hauser Lake, Idaho, Donna Behmerwohld of Sagle, Idaho, and Janice Calvert of Kootenai, Idaho; one stepson, Duane Syth of Sandpoint; one sister, Edith Waverick of Havre; two brothers, Leonard Volkman of Kalispell, Mont., and Harold Volkman of Somers, Mont.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.
