Toddler Drowns In Canal

Associated Press

A 2-year-old Nampa boy died when he wandered from his grandmother’s yard and fell into an irrigation canal.

Police were called at 4:40 p.m. Thursday to search for Akia J. Knibbe.

Residents along Middleton Road, about a mile down the canal, found the child in the water 50 minutes later.

Efforts to revive Knibbe failed, and the child was declared dead at about 8:45 p.m., police said.
