Cambodian Inmates Escape From Jail
Fifty-seven Cambodian prisoners, including two charged with murdering an American tourist, have escaped from jail, a provincial official said Saturday.
The jailbreak took place Friday morning in Siem Reap province, 140 miles northwest of the capital, Phnom Penh, said the vice governor of Siem Reap, Kor Bunheng.
Two of the fugitives were Khmer Rouge guerrillas who confessed to fatally shooting Susan Ginsburg Hadden in January at the Angkor Wat temples in Siem Reap. Her husband, Jack Hadden Jr., was wounded and their Cambodian guide also was killed.
