Pilot In Serious Condition After Plane Crashed Into House

The pilot of a light plane that crashed into a house in southeast King County was in serious condition Saturday at Harborview Medical Center. His wife and son were killed in the accident.

Joseph Cameron, 32, was unconscious when he was brought in Friday night, a hospital nursing supervisor said. She said the Bonney Lake man suffered a broken back and second- or third-degree burns on his legs.

The names of Cameron’s 32-year-old wife and their 9-yearold son were not released.

The single-engine Cessna 177 Cardinal crashed shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday into the roof of a rural, one-story rambler-style house near Crest Air Park, a private airstrip southeast of Covington, about 10 miles southeast of Kent.

The plane was trying to land at the Crest Air Park.

The homeowner, who was not hurt, managed to pull Cameron from the plane and dragged him outside the house shortly before the aircraft exploded. The resulting fire also burned down the house.
