Shadow Grabs First Victory

Keeper John Nagel made a diving save and then Zane Higgins scored to give the Spokane Shadow a live shootout victory over USISL league leader Portland Saturday night.

There was no score before the shootout but Jim Martinson, Tim Seely and Higgins connected for the Shadow, which one for the first time in three games. Nagel finished with five saves and Spokane out-shot Portland 14-12.

Portland dropped to 5-2.

The Shadow plays at Salem this afternoon. Its home opener is June 10 against Yakima.
