Mariners Stadium Passes Another Test

The Senate voted 31-14 Monday to approve a bill that could result in construction of a $260 million retractable roof stadium for the Seattle Mariners.

Under SB6049 the Metropolitan King County Council would be authorized to increase the county sales tax from 8.2 percent to 8.3 percent to pay for the stadium.

But the increase would be scrapped unless approved by King County voters.
