Quints Seek Pay For Exploitation
The government opened negotiations Wednesday with the Dionne sisters, the world’s first surviving quintuplets, who are demanding compensation for their childhood exploitation.
Bertrand Dionne, agent for his mother, Cecile Dionne, and her sisters Annette and Yvonne, met with government lawyers in Toronto to seek millions of dollars. The other two sisters, Emilie and Marie, died as adults.
The government has agreed to compensate the sisters, but Dionne said government lawyers would not commit to a deadline and indicated the sisters’ $10 million claim was exorbitant.
