Highway Chase Ends When Van Hits Moose

Compiled From Wire Services

A moose walking across the TransCanada Highway helped police abruptly end a high-speed car chase in northern Ontario.

Officers were pursuing a van reported stolen in Sault Ste. Marie. The 90 mph chase thudded to a halt near Wawa, 90 miles north, when the van struck the moose.

The two young men in the car were arrested and charged with possessing stolen property.

The moose died.
