Burglars Continue Holiday Crime Spree

A Memorial Day weekend crime spree continued late Saturday and early Sunday when at least six more Spokane homes were burglarized, police said.

The exodus from the city to weekend tourist spots left hundreds of homes unoccupied during the three-day break.

At least nine homes were burglarized late Friday and early Saturday, bringing the total to 15 by Sunday afternoon.

Police expect more reports will roll in today and Tuesday as people return from their holiday weekend.
