In the restaurant world, buffalo wings represent a $400 million category with a 20 percent annual growth rate.

Now that Pizza Hut, the world’s largest pizza chain, has put its version of the hot little poultry parts on the menu - following Domino’s Pizza, KFC, Denny’s and McDonald’s - you may want to know what you’re scarfing down.

Tufts University’s Diet & Nutrition Letter offered a comparison of fast-food chicken wings. The results may make your feathers stand on end.

Someone on a typical 2,000-calorie diet should consume no more than 65 grams of fat and 2,400 mg of sodium per day. These snacks deliver 17 percent to 24 percent of daily calories, as well as 29 percent to 51 percent of the fat allowance and 18 percent to 67 percent of the sodium allowance.

Domino’s Buffalo Wings: with barbecue sauce, 346 calories, 19 grams fat (49 percent fat calories), 434 milligrams sodium; with pepper sauce, 358 calories, 21 grams fat (53 percent fat calories), 755 milligrams sodium.

Denny’s Buffalo Wings: 350 calories, 22 grams fat (57 percent fat calories), 1,565 milligrams sodium.

KFC Hot Wings: 471 calories, 33 grams fat (63 percent fat calories), 1,230 milligrams sodium.

McDonald’s Mighty Wings: 350 calories, 23 grams fat (59 percent fat calories), 1,040 milligrams sodium.

Pizza Hut Buffalo Wings: 483 calories, 31 grams fat (58 percent fat calories), 1,613 milligrams sodium.
