Ibm To Launch Pcs With New Chip
IBM next month will launch its first personal computers based on the PowerPC microprocessor it codeveloped with Apple Computer Inc. and Motorola Inc., a computer industry newspaper reported Tuesday.
The company is not likely to achieve high volume shipments for the new machines until later this year, however. They have been widely anticipated as the first from IBM with a new internal design since the company’s original PC in 1981.
