Panel Urges Goof-Proof Car-Seat System
The best way to get parents to use car seats properly, saving hundreds of children’s lives each year, is to build goof-proof systems into cars, a federally appointed panel says.
The proposed built-in child seat anchor could become as common as other car safety innovations such as anti-lock brakes and air bags if approved by the government, panel moderator Philip Haseltine said Tuesday.
The proposed Isofix system uses four metal bars anchored to a vehicle’s seat by latches on the child safety seat.
