Stanford Tops Texas Tech, Gains College World Series
Brian Dallimore singled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as Stanford beat Texas Tech 6-5 Tuesday to win the NCAA Midwest I regional and advance to the College World Series.
Kyle Peterson went the distance for Stanford (39-23) and struck out 11.
Texas Tech (51-14) took a 3-1 lead in the second inning, but Stanford bounced back with three runs in the seventh.
The Red Raiders tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on a double by Jason Totman, a sacrifice and an error. Dallimore’s RBI single put Stanford ahead 5-4 in the eighth and the Cardinal added a run in the ninth.
Totman homered in the bottom of the ninth to make it 6-5, but Tech couldn’t get any closer.
NAIA World Series
Lewis and Clark State fell to Cumberland 5-0 at the double-elimination NAIA World Series in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Warriors (57-15) play Bellevue, Neb. (54-13) at 1 p.m. today.
