O.J. Simpson’s agent said Wednesday that he does not want the ex-football star signing pictures of the infamous Bronco chase, as a sports memorabilia promoter has promised.
Mike Gilbert said he’d prefer that Simpson stick to sports-related items during an autograph-signing at a sports memorabilia show and in the items the show’s promoter is offering by mail.
“I want to keep this a sports show, not a ‘Hey, I’m out of jail’ show,” Gilbert said, noting that Simpson’s contract allows him to refuse to sign items he dislikes. He still had not reached Simpson for a final decision by evening.
The Football Spectacular 4 show in Atlantic City is sponsored by Triumph Commemorative Covers Inc. of New York City.
Simpson’s Feb. 24 appearance has drawn protests from women’s groups, state legislators and the mayor. He was acquitted last month of murdering ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
