Cyclist Runs Over Policeman’s Foot

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Burley man has been arrested following a chase on a stolen motorcycle up to 120 mph which ended when he ran over a policeman’s foot.

Darrell Jay Lund, 25, was arrested at gunpoint by Rupert Police officers Ryan Hanks and Todd McGhie after a 15-mile chase that began late Tuesday night in Jerome County.

Lund was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property, driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident.

He also had two outstanding warrants from Nevada.

Lund was first pursued on state Highway 25 for breaking the speed limit, according to a Jerome Sheriff’s office report. He turned onto a road paralleling Interstate 84 and raced away at about 120 mph.

At the Rupert road block, Hanks tried to pull Lund off the motorcycle, but released his grip when he ran over his foot. Lund dumped the bike and was run down on foot.
