UI Aids Study Of Water Rights

A cooperative effort between the University of Idaho and the Idaho Department of Water Resources is helping to resolve a private dispute over water use and water rights.

Hydrology professor Gary Johnson, two graduate students and a state Water Resources official for eastern Idaho worked together to document the impact of ground water pumping on spring flow in the Bear River Basin.

Johnson said the report was an excellent opportunity to study the impact of ground water use on surface water.
