Deal Closed On Julia Roberts’ Next Film

Cathy Dunkley The Hollywood Reporter

TriStar Pictures has closed a deal for Julia Roberts to star in “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” reps for the studio confirmed.

Sources said Roberts would receive in the neighborhood of $12 million to make the film. That keeps Roberts right at the top of the Hollywood salary structure, adjacent to the $12.5 million Demi Moore received to star in “Striptease” and the same figure Roberts received for her previous two movies.

“My Best Friend’s Wedding” is the story of a woman who makes a deal with her best friend that, if neither is married, the two will wed in 10 years. A decade later, the friend calls to say he is marrying another woman, leading to a romantic comedy in which Roberts’ character ultimately discovers she doesn’t need to marry her friend to be happy.
