Area Boy Scouts Collect Food For Holidays, Crisis Meals

From Staff And Wire Reports

Spokane area Boy Scouts went door-to-door and collected more than 164,000 pounds of food Saturday during their annual food drive.

The food will now be processed by the Spokane Food Bank for distribution by local emergency services agencies, said Ann Price, the food bank’s development manager.

Food will be used to feed needy families Thanksgiving dinner and crisis meals in Spokane County throughout the winter.

“It is the major drive that does help get us through the winter,” Price said.

Several thousand Cub and Boy Scouts participated in the food drive, which is the largest one-day activity for Inland Northwest scouts.
