Restaurants Competing For Food

Two Spokane restaurants on North Division are staging a friendly contest to see which one can attract the most food donations before Thanksgiving to benefit the Spokane Food Bank.

Swackhammer’s is offering a $1 discount for each donated item of canned food, up to a $3 discount per adult meal. Or, contributors can receive a $1 discount on the cover charge at the restaurant’s club.

Swackhammer’s rival, Red Robin, has barrels for food donations, and the names of contributors are recorded. Whoever brings in the most donations will receive a free dinner at … Swackhammer’s.

The contest is running until Nov. 22, the day before Thanksgiving. Donations for the food bank should be nonperishable items in original, sealed containers.
