Bank Camera Clears Man Of Robbery
The police said Tony Lee Thacker robbed a bank, and a surveillance camera showed him in a bank at the time of the robbery.
The problem - for prosecutors, at least: It was a different bank.
“There I am! That’s me,” Thacker said as he watched the surveillance-camera videotape with the judge and prosecutor on Wednesday.
Judge Thomas Crush promptly cleared him of robbery charges.
Thacker, 35, of Fairfield, had been in jail since Aug. 4 on charges of robbing Provident Bank branches in Cincinnati on July 31 and Loveland on June 13.
Five witnesses had identified Thacker as the holdup man, but a camera caught him waiting to cash a check at a PNC Bank office at 11:05 a.m. on July 31 - the time the Provident Bank was being robbed.
