Colbert Continues To Play Hot In Chilly South Carolina
While short sleeves replaced hand warmers, Jim Colbert kept up his on-target iron play Friday for a three-shot lead halfway through the Senior Tour Championship.
Colbert scoped out pins with his approach shots throughout the Friday, finishing with a 69 and a two-day total of 140 that was 7-under par.
The only player who could keep pace at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club was Colbert’s playing partner, Isao Aoki, who also shot a 69 to go 4-under.
Tom Wargo, who finished fifth at The Dunes a year ago, moved into contention with a 69. He was five shots back with Hale Irwin, at 50 the youngest competitor in the field.
No one else in the select 30-man field cracked par on Friday, despite an almost balmy climate compared with the frigidly cold first-round conditions.
