Police Seek Offenders Who Have Moved

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police will begin patrolling Spokane neighborhoods next week looking for sex offenders who are no longer at their registered addresses.

State law requires people convicted of sex crimes to register with local law enforcement agencies. Throughout the year, police double-check the registered addresses.

If a sex offender has moved without filing a change of address, an arrest warrant is issued.

Police say there are about 600 convicted sex offenders in the city, most Level I or II, which are considered small dangers to re-offend.

About 20 are Level III, offenders who are considered very likely to offend again. , DataTimes
