Sooner Or Later, Ou Loss To Osu Was Inevitable
Oklahoma State ended 19 years of frustration against Oklahoma on Saturday, using a strong defensive performance and one big play on offense to win 12-0.
The victory was Oklahoma State’s first against its in-state rival since 1976, and it marked the first time since a 10-0 loss to Missouri in 1983 that Oklahoma had been shut out.
The loss means Oklahoma (5-4-1, 2-4 Big Eight) must beat No. 1 Nebraska on Nov. 24 if it hopes to play in a bowl game. It also ensures the Sooners their first losing record in the conference since 1965.
The Cowboy defense made two goal-line stands in the second half. The first came with about 7 minutes left in the third quarter and started after Oklahoma recovered a fumble. Oklahoma State improved its record to 3-7, 2-4.
