Hillary Rodham Clinton stood in for her husband at a presidential fund-raiser Monday and also accepted an award from the American Cancer Society commending the president for his fight against teenage tobacco use.
The first lady arrived later than expected at snowy Logan International Airport. She was whisked off to the fund-raising dinner at the Park Plaza Hotel after accepting the award.
The fund-raising event was closed to the press and public. The first lady was scheduled to return to Washington after the dinner.
Hillary Clinton pinch-hit for the president, who remained at the White House, engaged in a budget standoff.
