Gop Lists 3 Mielke Replacements

Spokane 6th District Republicans chose three candidates Monday to replace Rep. Todd Mielke, who quit the Legislature last month.

The candidates are Duane Sommers, a former 6th District representative, Bradley D. Benson and Daniel Steele, said Charlotte Karling, the acting chairwoman of the Spokane County Republican Party.

County commissioners will interview the candidates and could choose a replacement as soon as today, Karling said.

The candidate who replaces Mielke will complete the second half of his two-year term.

Fifty-two precinct committee officers voted Monday for the top three of six nominated candidates, Karling said. , DataTimes
