Bette Larson Wallace

Graveside service for Bette Ann Larson, 66, will be today at 3 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service of Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Larson, who was born in Oregon, died Sunday.

She moved from Oregon to the Pine Creek area near Pinehurst in the early 1930s.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed camping, crocheting and gardening.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Jack Larson and Floyd Wickstrom.

Mrs. Larson’s survivors include her common-law husband, Maurice Amsden of Wallace; two sons, Ron Wickstrom of Helena and Larry Larson of Elko, Nev., four daughters, Candice Merrick of Kellogg, Selma Oberg of Rose Lake, Jackie Larson of Tucson, Ariz., and Sherry Sperber of Wallace; two brothers, Richard Baldwin of Pine Creek and Stanley Baldwin of Enaville; three sisters, Barbara Lewis of Coeur d’Alene, Kathleen Coe of Kingston, and Nancy Riegel of Page, Idaho; six grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Schauls-Lenocker Kennewick

Service for Mary C. SchaulsLenocker, 98, was held Tuesday in St. Maries. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home of St. Maries was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schauls-Lenocker, a longtime North Idaho resident, died Friday in Kennewick.

She was born in Rockford, Ill., and graduated from the Rochester Training School for Nurses in Minnesota in 1920. She married Michael Schauls later that same year.

In 1934 she moved from South Dakota to Harrison, Idaho, where she was a farmer and homemaker. She moved to Spokane in 1955 and to Kennewick in 1976.

She was preceded in death by husbands Michael Schauls, Sam Gano and Irvin Lenocker.

Survivors include three sons, Warren Schauls of Kennewick, and William and Robert Schauls, both of Colville, Wash.; one daughter, Marilyn Schumacher of Kennewick; two brothers, Fred and Albert Polchow, both of Portland; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Yeend Spokane

Memorial service for Robert S. Yeend, 75, is planned for 3 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Yeend, a 56-year Spokane resident, died Sunday.

He was born in Walla Walla and graduated from high school there.

He moved to Spokane in 1939 and graduated from Kinman Business University with an accounting degree.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Beginning in 1947, Mr. Yeend worked as an accountant, office manager and treasurer at Silver Loaf Bakery in Spokane. He retired in 1980, when the bakery was known as Interstate Brands. It is now known as Snyder’s Bakery.

He was a member and elder of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church and was a member of Tyrian Masonic Lodge 96.

Mr. Yeend is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ann Yeend; three sons, Robert Yeend of Santa Ana, Calif., Richard Yeend of Hayden, Idaho, and James Yeend of Spokane; one daughter, Sally Ann Hicks of Kirkland, Wash.; two brothers, Lowell Yeend of Walla Walla and Paul Yeend of Longview, Wash.; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.

Dennis Ackerman Airway Heights

Memorial service for Dennis Leroy Ackerman, 39, will be at 1 p.m. today at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sprague, Wash. Private burial will be at Macabee Cemetery in Sprague.

Mr. Ackerman, a former Sprague resident, died Saturday.

He was born in Spokane.

He moved from Seattle to Sprague in 1984 and to Airway Heights in 1988.

He had worked at the Fish Trap Resort for the past year.

He is survived by his wife, Kathi; two sons, Johnny and Dennis Ackerman Jr.; one daughter, Denise Ackerman; his parents, Donald and Delores Ackerman of Sprague; five brothers; and his grandmother, Daisy Jones of Reardan, Wash.

Alma Jones Davis Lake, Wash.

Service for Alma P. Jones, 84, will be at 2 p.m. today at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash. Burial will follow at Newport Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones, who died Saturday at home, was born in St. Maries and graduated from high school there. In 1936 she married Paige Jones in Republic, Wash. He died in 1989.

She had lived in Spokane and moved to Pend Oreille County nearly 30 years ago.

She was a member of the Cusick Senior Citizens Center and the local Grange.

She is survived by two nephews, Jack Sullivan of La Conner, Wash., and Roy Swope of Issaquah, Wash.; and two nieces, Sally and Mary Swope, both of Seattle.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Sam Danichek Colville, Wash.

Memorial Mass for Sam Danichek, 77, will be at 1 p.m. today at Colville Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Danekas Funeral Chapel of Colville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Danichek died Friday.

He was born in Bearcreek, Mont.

Mr. Danichek served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He worked in the mining industry for many years and in 1963 moved to Metaline Falls, Wash., where he worked for the Pend Oreille Mine. He and his wife, Rose, moved to Colville in 1966.

Mr. Danichek worked on the construction of the Boise Cascade Plywood Mill before he worked for the mill full time as a glue mixer. He retired in 1983.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years; two daughters, Sharon Carr and Sandy Danichek, both of Colville; one son, Fred Danichek of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one sister, Ida King of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one brother, George Danichek of Twin Falls, Idaho; and two granddaughters.

Helen Bailie Spokane

Service for Emma Helen Bailie, 86, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mountain View Cemetery in Connell, Wash.

Mrs. Bailie, who was born in Grangeville, Idaho, died Saturday.

She graduated from Cheney Normal School and taught school for several years in Eltopia and Sprague, Wash.

She married Oscar Bailie in 1930. They operated a grocery store in Connell until Mr. Bailie died in 1963.

Mrs. Bailie later worked as a girls’ dormitory housemother at Whitworth College.

She had lived at Hawthorne Manor Retirement Home for more than 20 years.

She is survived by one son, Bernard Bailie of Kent, Wash.; one daughter, Carolyn Russell of Valley, Wash.; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

George Currie Spokane

Memorial service for George Currie, 68, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North.

Born in Taunton, Mass., Mr. Currie died Thursday.

He served in the military for 32 years, spending time in all four branches. He entered the Navy when he was 15 and last served in the Air Force, retiring in 1973 as a master sergeant.

He received an associate of arts degree from Spokane Falls Community College following his military career and was the manager of Fairchild Mobile Home Park.

He had receive three Purple Heart Awards and was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6, National Order of Trench Rats No. 139, The Retired Enlisted Association, and St. Andrew’s Society.

He is survived by his companion, Alice White; and two sisters, Irene Norberg of Taunton, Mass., and Jean Thorpe of Lakeland, Fla.

Wilma Reeck Anderson Spokane

Memorial service for Wilma M. Reeck Anderson, 88, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Reeck Anderson died Thursday.

She was born in Trail, British Columbia.

She had lived in Spokane for 82 years and was a retired elementary school teacher and librarian.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of Eastern Washington University Tawanka, the Spokane Education Association, the Order of the Eastern Star, Amaranth Valley Court No. 52, El Karnak Temple No. 6 of Daughters of the Nile, and Alpha XI Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Her husbands died earlier: Arthur Reeck in 1973 and Victor Anderson in 1984.

She is survived by one son, Arthur Reeck of Mercer Island, Wash.; one daughter, Jean Frucci of Spokane; two stepsons, Ronald Anderson of Woodinville, Wash., and Richard Anderson of Oakland, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Janet Hagen of Newberg, Ore.; one sister, Jean Stumpf of Chewelah, Wash.; four grandsons, nine stepgrandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or the American Heart Association.

Edward Taylor Spokane

Memorial brunch for Edward R. Taylor, 64, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at 917 S. Greenridge Road in Liberty Lake. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Taylor, who died Monday, was born in Spokane.

He worked for Spokane Steel Foundry and operated a small trucking company until he retired earlier this year.

His survivors include two sons, Mark Taylor of Spokane and Bill Summers of Vancouver, British Columbia; one daughter, Carol Summers of Spokane; and five sisters, Evelyn Baker, Jo Miller, Elsie Kuchler, Gayle Hoiland and Pat Wollweber, all of Spokane.
