Wilburn ‘Jake’ Hinton Spokane

Wilburn “Jake” Hinton, Spokane, is 100 years old today.

Born Nov. 16, 1895, in Madison County, Ind., he has been an Eastern Washington resident for 86 years.

He and his wife, Alma, were married in 1917. She died May 13, 1989.

They had two sons, Ronald M. Hinton Sr. and Merrill Hinton, both of whom have died..

Wilburn Hinton was a carpet installer.

He has three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

When asked to what he attributes his longevity to, he replied, “hard work and clean living.”
