Leslie County High School quarterback Tim Couch threw for 219 yards Friday night to break the national high school record for career passing yards. Coming into Friday night’s Class 3A playoff game with Belfry, Couch needed 49 yards to break the record of 11,700 yards held by Josh Booty of Shreveport, La. Couch was 19 for 31 for 219 yards and three touchdowns as Leslie County of Hyden, Ky. beat Belfry 28-20…Ferris State (Big Rapids,Mich.) basketball coach Tom Ludwig resigned after the school accused him of using ethnic slurs against a player in 1994. Ludwig used ethnic slurs against a former unnamed player of Polish descent.
