3 Die When Plane Crashes Into Lake

Compiled From Wire Services

A twin-engine plane with five people aboard crashed during take-off Sunday into the cold waters of Lake Erie, injuring two passengers. A man, woman and child were missing.

The plane was at the surface of the lake, about 2-1/2 miles off shore, when a Coast Guard crew arrived and rescued the two men. But it sank to the bottom during the rescue, airport commissioner Mike Barth said.
