Barging Of Salmon Advocated

From Staff And Wire Reports

The report from the “supreme court of science” shows that barging salmon around dams is the most effective and cheapest method of saving the fish, says Idaho Sen. Republican Larry Craig’s chief of staff.

Greg Casey also reported the National Academy of Science contends that the scientific evidence for using more Idaho water, such as drawing down Dworshak Reservoir, is sketchy at best, according to the study.

He added that the report shows there are “no magic bullets” for solving the dilemma, including drawdowns of reservoirs.

But Oregon state Sen. Terry Thompson, a Newport Democrat, challenged Casey’s assertion.

“I think it’s premature for you to assume it’s the gospel until it’s out for peer review,” he said.
