Compiled From Wire Services

In Daytona Beach, Fla., Winston Cup champion Jeff Gordon became the first stock car driver to surpass $4 million in earnings, breaking the 2-year-old record of Dale Earnhardt.

NASCAR said Gordon earned nearly $4.35 million. Earnhardt, whom he unseated this year as Winston Cup champion, earned more than $3.35 million in 1993.

Jeff Unser, the nephew of auto racing greats Al Unser Sr. and Bobby Unser, was found dead, his body wounded by gunshots and dumped outside an Albuquerque, N.M., home in a possibly drug-related killing.
