Wildcats Under Suspicion

Police plan to question three Arizona football players - including All-Pac-10 safety Brandon Sanders - after the players were identified by victims of two shooting incidents in Tuscon, Ariz.

The others are receiver Jeff Nadeau and cornerback Derrick Stewart.

In De Kalb, Ill., Northern Illinois fired football coach Charlie Sadler and his staff. Sadler went 18-37 in five seasons.

The No. 10 Kansas State Wildcats accepted an invitation to play the Western Athletic Conference champion in San Diego’s Holiday Bowl on Dec. 29 at Jack Murphy Stadium.

Clemson will play in the $1.3 million Gator Bowl on New Year’s Day in Jacksonville, Fla.
