Three Commit To Ewu

Three high school players from California have signed letters of intent to attend Eastern Washington and play basketball for the Eagles next year, head coach Steve Aggers has announced.

The players are 6-foot-6, 218-pound forward Stephen Moss-Kelley from Bishop O’Dowd High in Oakland; 6-7, 250-pound forward Eddie Turner III from Claremont High in Claremont; and 6-11, 220-pound forward/center Joshua Price from Mariposa County High in Mariposa.

“They bring special qualities to our team and give us a base of four-year players to build around for the future,” Aggers said. “They are all exceptional people as well as good players, which we believe is essential in creating a winning program.”

Moss-Kelley averaged 16 points and nine rebounds as a junior and was named to the All-Alameda Contra Costa Athletic League first team. He also earned All-Metro honors as chosen by the San Francisco Chronicle.

He was most valuable player in the Jesuit/Carmichael Tournament last year, and was named to the all-tournament team as a sophomore and junior at the Amador Classic.

Turner averaged 16 points and eight rebounds as a junior at Claremont.

He was a second-team all-league selection as a junior.

“Eddie is the young power player that we need in this program,” Aggers said.

“”He brings size, strength and aggressiveness to our program, which will give him a chance to be a very good power forward in the Big Sky Conference. Eddie has a great basketball body and is just now beginning to realize his potential.

“He loves the game and will do what it takes to be successful. He is a good student who has his priorities and goals well thought out. He brings a winning attitude to our program.”

Price averaged 17 points and nine rebounds as a junior for coach Lloyd Hobby at Mariposa.

He was the Southern Athletic League most valuable player last season, leading the team to its second straight league title.

“Joshua is an athletic 6-11 frontline player with unlimited potential,” said Aggers. “He can run the floor and has very good mobility for a player his size.

“He has the desire to improve his skill level to play to the best of his ability. A player with size and athletic ability is rare, and we look forward to Joshua joining our program. With a concentrated weight and strength program, Joshua will continue to make strides towards reaching his potential.”

Aggers is in his first season as head coach at Eastern, which opens its season on Sunday at Washington State before hosting Washington on Tuesday.

The Eagles were 6-20 overall and 2-12 in the Big Sky Conference last season.
