Rossley Will Remain At Smu Helm

Despite a 1-10 record and holding a share of the longest major-college losing streak, football coach Tom Rossley was assured he will return to lead Southern Methodist University into the Western Athletic Conference next fall.

The University of Virginia’s football team accepted an invitation to play in Atlanta’s Peach Bowl on Dec. 30.

Karim Abdul-Jabbar of UCLA, Tiki Barber of Virginia, Tim Biakabatuka of Michigan, Warrick Dunn of Florida State, Eddie George of Ohio State, George Jones of San Diego State, Wasean Tait of Toledo and Moe Williams of Kentucky were named as finalists for the 1995 Doak Walker award, presented each year to the nation’s best college football running back.
