Sewage Rates On Council Agenda
The public will have the opportunity to comment on sewage rates at a public hearing in mid-January, the Coeur d’Alene City Council decided Tuesday evening.
The hearing will consider several options for raising revenue, from raising hook-up fees, to changes in commercial or residential fees. The hearing will be part of the Jan. 16 council meeting, beginning at 7 p.m. in City Hall.
The council also approved a zone change that brings the Jenny Stokes Field into compliance with city ordinance. The soccer field, at Ramsey Road and Kathleen Avenue, is now zoned limited commercial and industrial - which makes the field legal.
In other business the council:
Approved a contract with Deaconess Medical Center’s clinic in Post Falls to perform periodic drug tests for city employees with commercial driver’s licenses.
Created a taxing district for Kathleen Avenue, between U.S. Highway 95 and Ramsey Road, to pay for widening the street, adding a bike path and sidewalks. The special tax assessment will charge property owners on the street $393,000 of the $505,000 needed for improvements.
