We’ll All Regret Taking Seconds Of The Stuffing

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

Yes, we realize today is a day to count our blessings. But we’re more interested in the regrets of the rich and famous, as revealed in the current Cosmopolitan:

Julie Andrews: “I’d have loved to have had the time to study literature, learn another language, and most of all, have another child.”

Dennis Quaid: “I’m sorry my mother didn’t make me play the piano.”

Rosie O’Donnell: “My mother was very ill, and she died when I was young. So not knowing her has always been my great regret … She’s a mystery still, and it’s haunting.”

Mercedes Ruehl: “I’ve never gone downhill skiing, and it’s too late now - I’m too tall and too tired.”

Don Johnson: None. “I’ve done everything I’ve ever taken a fancy to. The only things I haven’t done are things I haven’t thought of.”

Loose talk

Peter Fonda, on playing both Dr. Van Helsing and Dracula in “Nadja,” the latest vampire flick: “I got to have my stake and eat it too.”

He cooks his whole Thanksgiving dinner on the range

Bruce Hornsby turns 40 today.

Which will put her show in a league of its own

Speaking of Rosie O’Donnell, the comedian-actress is joining the crowded daytime talk-show field, although her debut date hasn’t yet been announced. “I’m so thrilled to be given an opportunity to present my idea of talk-variety,” O’Donnell said, promising “no fist fights.”

But we would much rather sit in Cindy’s lap

Mel Gibson is the celebrity people would most like to see delivering their Christmas cards, according to a telephone survey conducted for the Postal Service. Cindy Crawford and Santa Claus tied for second, followed by Brad Pitt and Denzel Washington.

As one might expect, they did it their way

Among the musical guests at the taping of Frank Sinatra’s 80th birthday tribute, scheduled to air on ABC during the blessed event itself, Dec. 14: Tony Bennett, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Salt-N-Pepa, Little Richard and Hootie and the Blowfish, who offered their interpretation of “The Lady Is a Tramp.”

It looked like he was beginning to wattle

So what’s the deal with country crooner Vince Gill’s super-short hair and goatee? “I wanted to see what my head looks like,” said the country star. “I haven’t seen it in about 32 years since I had a burr … My dad used to make me wear it that way.” As for the goatee, “I’m just kind of doing it to hide the fat.”

Yeah, us too - starting tomorrow, of course

Deep-voiced soul singer Barry White is denying reports that he’s dying from a mysterious disease, explaining that he’s just tired out from touring. White also says his 53-pound weight loss was planned, adding: “I got 25 (pounds) to go before I hit my goal.”
