Princess Arrives In Argentina

Associated Press

Escaping the furor over her public confession of adultery, Princess Diana arrived in Argentina on Thursday, seeking to boost her profile as a roving ambassador.

Diana, wearing a long-sleeved cream suit, spent the afternoon touring a children’s hospital and polio clinic.

She was to attend a dinner at the residence of the British ambassador.

Her visit to Argentina is the third by a member of Britain’s royal family since the 1982 war over the Falkland Islands.

It comes three days after she admitted in a BBC-TV interview that she had an affair with a British army officer after she married Prince Charles. The couple married in 1981 and separated in 1992.

Diana was greeted at the airport by the British ambassador, Sir Peter Hall, and was to have dinner at his home Thursday.
