Craig Won’t Support President’s Decision

Associated Press

Republican Sen. Larry Craig says at this time, he won’t support President Clinton’s decision to send American troops to Bosnia on a peace-keeping mission.

In fact, Craig believes the Democratic president has “blundered in a major way” by not conferring with congressional leaders on his plans in Bosnia.

Craig was interviewed Friday for the weekend “Viewpoint” program on KTVB.

He acknowledged that as commander-in-chief, the president has the right to take some military actions.

“This is not an emergency. The security of this country is not at risk. This is a long term, police keeping, peace keeping effort.”

He said the administration has no “exit plans,” a way to get American troops out if shooting resumes and lives are threatened.
