Gophers Retain Wacker

University of Minnesota football coach Jim Wacker is keeping his job despite his 12-31 record with the Golden Gophers the past four seasons.

Wacker, in the fourth year of a five-year contract, received a two-year contract extension pending Board of Regents approval.

In Fort Worth, Texas, Texas Christian running back Matt Moore underwent emergency surgery after suffering a neck injury during practice.

Moore was listed in serious condition at Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital after 3 hours of surgery. The hospital said further details about his condition would be released this morning. Details of how he was hurt were not immediately available.
