Bernice Zingleman Spokane

Memorial service for Bernice Zingleman, 78, will be at a later date. Private burial will be at Vineland Cemetery in Clarkston, Wash. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Zingleman died Nov. 15.

She was born in Minnesota.

She was a homemaker and moved to Spokane 13 years ago from Clarkston, where she had lived for 15 years.

Her husband of 35 years, Earl Zingleman, died in 1980.

She is survived by a sister, Gloria Nelson of Fargo, N.D.; and a brother, John Mortenson of Libby, Mont.

Lawrence Cannon Spokane

Memorial service for Lawrence E. Cannon, 75, will be held Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. at Colbert Church of Christ. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Spokane, Mr. Cannon died Nov. 17.

He served in the Army during World War II and then worked as a commercial baker.

Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie Cannon; three sons, Rudy Cannon of Orlando, Fla., Burt Cannon of Whitefish, Mont., and Rick Cannon of Spokane; three sisters, Sheila Nafus of Tuscon, Ariz., Jerrine Nolasco of Calistoga, Calif., and Marie Witter of Spokane; one brother, Robert Cannon of Sacramento, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ann Chadwell Spokane

Service for Ann Rose “Grandma Goose” Chadwell, 68, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Opportunity Free Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Saltese Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime resident of Spokane, Mrs. Chadwell died Tuesday.

A member of the Opportunity Free Methodist Church, she served as a steward for shut-ins and worked several years in the church nursery.

She volunteered for the church clothing bank and was a member of the Grandmothers Club and Union Gospel Mission Women’s Auxiliary.

Her husband, Jack, died in 1987.

She is survived by three sons, Cliff and Wayne Chadwell of Spokane and Steve Chadwell of Helena; one daughter, Jude Ford of Vancouver, Wash.; one sister, Betty Renner of Carlin Bay, Idaho; one brother, Ronald Biledeau of Spokane; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Opportunity Free Methodist Church Nursery or the Union Gospel Mission.

Evelyn Chapin Deer Park

Memorial service for Evelyn Lucille Gendreau Chapin, 68, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Chapin, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.

A 20-year Deer Park resident, she was a homemaker.

Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, Peter Chapin of Alexandria, Va.; one daughter, Dannette Greenslade of Kennewick; brother and sisters ; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society Spokane.

Everett Combs Sr. Almira, Wash.

Service for Everett Combs Sr., 68, was Nov. 13 at Hartline (Wash.) Assembly of God Church. Burial was at the Almira Cemetery.

Mr. Combs died Nov. 10.

He was born in Newport, Ky.

He was a construction inspector with the Bureau of Reclamation and worked on the Flaming Gorge Dam in Utah, Yellow Tail Dam in Montana, and Grand Coulee Dam’s third powerhouse.

Mr. Combs had lived in Almira since 1965.

He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Ellen Combs; two sons, Everett Combs Jr. of Almira and Carl Combs of Spokane; two brothers, Willie Combs of White Lake, S.D., and Robert Combs of Booneville, Ky.; one sister, Georgia Combs of Owensberg, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Almira Cemetery Endowment Association.

Ruth (Hunsberger) Sleeth Spokane

Memorial gathering for Ruth (Hunsberger) Sleeth, 84, was Nov. 17.

Mrs. Sleeth, who died Nov. 13 at home, was born in Madison, S.D. She had lived in Spokane for 80 years.

Her husband, Don Sleeth, died in October.

She graduated from Reardan (Wash.) High School and St. Luke’s School of Nursing. She worked for Spokane Public Health Department.

Mrs. Sleeth was a member of the Heritage Congregational Church and the Spokane Floral Gardens Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Paananen of Seattle; a son, Tim Sleeth, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters SalleeVogt and Madlyn Gold; two brothers, Paul and Wayne Hunsberger; and six grandchildren.

Cleora Hearsum Puyallup, Wash.

Graveside service for Cleora L. Hearsum, 83, is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Powers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hearsum, who was born in Miles City, Mont., died Tuesday.

She lived in the Coeur d’Alene and Spokane areas for 50 years, and moved to Puyallup in 1981.

She worked as a secretary for United Pacific Insurance Company.

Her husband, Roland, died in 1974.

Survivors include one daughter, Pat (Gregoire) Monaghan of Puyallup; two granddaughters, two grandsons and nine great-grandchildren.

Harold Nance Spokane

Graveside service for Harold C. Nance, 75, was held on Friday at Pines Mausoleum. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2218. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nance, who was born in Sommers, Mont., died Wednesday.

A 74-year Spokane resident, he worked as a truck driver for more than 20 years with United Paving. He retired in 1982.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and was a retired member of the Teamsters Union.

He enjoyed the horse races.

He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Luiten and Cheryl McCarthy, both of Spokane; one brother, Allen Nance of Spokane; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Christina Dalton Berryville, Ark.

Service for Christina M. Dalton, 20, is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of the Open Bible. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Dalton, who was born in Long Beach, Calif., moved to Spokane when she was 2 years old. She died Nov 17.

She graduated from Mead High School in 1994.

She was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible in Spokane, and had played on the Mead High School softball team.

She moved to Berryville last year.

She is survived by her father and stepmother, James and Carol Dalton of Colbert; her mother and stepfather, Judy and Will Harold of Green Forest, Ark.; two brothers, James Dalton Jr. of Spokane and Jeremiah Dalton of Colbert; a stepsister, Lisa Bermel of Colbert; a stepbrother, James Bermel of Colbert; and grandparents, Dell Saunders of Spokane, Thelma Pate of Long Beach, Calif.

Dortha Williams Spokane

Graveside service for Dortha M. Williams, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Columbarium at Greenwood Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Williams, who died Sunday, was born in Gillette, Wyo.

She had lived in Spokane since 1958 and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Valley Eagles No. 3433.

Survivors include three sons, Curtis and Bobby Williams, both of Spokane, and Randee Williams of Athol, Idaho; two daughters, Delores Sommerfeld of Honolulu and Dianna Petersen of Lynnwood, Wash.; three sisters; five brothers; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Elsie Hartley Spokane

Graveside service for Elsie Stone Hartley, 102, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hartley, a 100-year Spokane resident, died November 15.

A homemaker, she was born in Fulton, N.Y.

Her husband, Fred, died in 1978.

Survivors include a son, Gerald Hartley, Spokane; a sister, Mabel Webber, Spokane; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.

Inez Watson Medical Lake

Memorial service for Inez C. Watson, 86, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Medical Lake Community Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-Medical Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Watson, who was born in Avon, Idaho, died Nov. 18.

She moved to Tyler, Wash., as a child and graduated from Medical Lake High School.

She worked as the postmistress at Lakeland Village for 28 years before retiring in 1973.

She was a member of Medical Lake Community Church, Golden Agers of Medical Lake, and the Washington State Retired Employees Association.

Her husband of 34 years, Harry Watson, died in 1962.

She is survived by one daughter, Rose Mary Beckwith of Cheney; one brother, Arley Heyer of Cheney; one sister, Dolly Tesch of Vancouver, Wash.; and two grandsons.

Constance Winkler Spokane

Service for Constance L. “Connie” Winkler, 52, was Monday at Jesuit House on the Gonzaga University campus.

Miss Winkler died Nov. 17.

Born in Spokane, she graduated from Holy Names Academy and went to work in Sitka, Alaska, as a volunteer at Copper Valley School. She also worked at Eastern State Hospital as a hospital attendant for 10 years.

She is survived by three brothers, Jack, Bob and Jim Winkler, all of Spokane; seven sisters, Barbara Davey of Borango Springs, Calif., Gretchen Curalli, Martha Klunder, Heleene Murphy and Marjorie Schultz, all of Spokane, Mary Johnson of the Tri-Cities and Carolyn Vorhies of Fairbanks, Alaska.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Aloysius Catholic Church Altar Society or to Jesuit House.

Norman Richter Clarkston, Wash.

Graveside service for Norman Charles Herman Richter, 66, is set for 2 p.m. today at the Latah (Wash.) Evergreen Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Richter, who was born in Rosalia, Wash., died in Seattle Tuesday.

Mr. Richter had lived in Medical Lake, and in Clarkston since 1975.

He was a member of the Idaho Commission for the Blind and the Peoples First organization in Clarkston.

Survivors include two brothers and and two sisters.

Alice Sorensen Spokane

Graveside service for Alice M. Sorensen, 77, was Wednesday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Donald Helton Jr., her nephew, officiated at the service. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sorensen, who died Nov. 15, was born in Fort Calhoun, Neb.

She had lived in Spokane for 45 years, and worked as an agent for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1945 until she retired in 1980.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post No. 1474, the Eagles Lodge No. 2 Auxiliary, the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railroad Employees, the Union Pacific Employees Club, the Hillyard Belles and Trainmen, the Hillyard Senior Center, and the Transportation and Communications International Union.

Her husband, Ray Sorensen, died in 1959.

Mrs. Sorensen is survived by a sister, Dorothy Helton of California City, Calif.

M. Lucile Swarts Lind, Wash.

Service for M. Lucile Swarts, 80, was held Friday at the Lind United Methodist Church. Burial was at Lind Cemetery.

Born in Cedar Vale, Kan., Mrs. Swarts died Tuesday in Spokane.

She drove school buses for the Lind School District for more than 26 years. She also assisted her husband at the fertilizer plant by helping with bookkeeping.

She was a member of the Lind United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Kenneth, died in March.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Madison of Othello, and Debbie and Lela Swarts, both of Spokane; three sisters, Pat Bailey, Maxine Magnus and Bertha Bohannon, all of Cedar Vale, Kan.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Clarence Wilder Spokane

No service will be held for Clarence Ray Wilder, 72, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wilder, who died Nov. 18 at home, was born in Garden City, Kan.

He had lived in Spokane for 30 years and was a member of the Spokane Board of Realtors. He served on the board’s grievance committee and was chairman of its professional standards committee.

Mr. Wilder was associated with the National Academy of Conciliators and the American Arbitration Association. He served as a volunteer for the Spokane Dispute Resolution Center and as chairman of the Citizens Advisory Committee for Transportation for Eastern Washington.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the USS Sperry Association (USA-12), named after a Navy ship commissioned during World War II. the He was also a member of the Spokane Transportation Club, Spokane Eagles Lodge 2 and the Spokane Chapter of the Laryngectomee Association.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; one son, Mark Wilder of Spokane; one grandson and two granddaughters.
