Man Badly Wounded In Revolver Horseplay

A man playing Russian roulette with a revolver as he drove through a residential neighborhood shot himself in the head on the third click of the trigger, police said.

James P. Maynard, 22, was in critical condition Saturday with a gunshot wound to the head. His two passengers were hurt when the car then crashed through a stone wall into a convenience store parking lot.

Police officer J.A. Compton said it was unclear whether Maynard or the passengers knew the gun was loaded. The Russian roulette, he said, apparently was just horseplay.
