Police Cruisers Sport Billboard Messages

Compiled From Wire Services

Instead of hiding behind billboards in wait for speeders, the police cruisers here are the billboards.

Eight new St. Clair County sheriff’s cars on Friday carried the message “BARCOM First Alert Professional Security Systems” emblazoned on both front fenders.

BARCOM is paying $6,500 for a three-year contract. The money will go to the sheriff’s Drug Awareness and Resistance Education program.

Sheriff Mearl J. Justus said other businesses have expressed interest in the concept, but his department has set out some restrictions to assure good taste.
