Draw An Air Of Happiness

Lynn Gibson Correspondent

This year, the spirit of the holiday season can last until spring.

The annual Christmas Seals Kids’ Drawing Contest encourages children 6 to 15 years old to illustrate this year’s theme, “Feeling Good at the Holidays,” to help fight lung disease. The deadline to submit entries is March 31, 1996.

The contest is sponsored by the American Lung Association, the Triaminic Parents Club and the National Education Association. For each entry, $1 will be donated to the American Lung Association.

“Lung disease is the third-leading cause of death in the United States,” says John Garrison, managing director of the lung association. “The Kids’ Drawing Contest allows us the opportunity to celebrate the spirit of the holidays and increase national awareness of breathing problems.”

To enter, children must obtain an official entry form by calling (800) LUNG-USA, then draw what makes them feel good during the holidays. The drawing must be in color on a standard sheet of white, unlined paper.

Submit both the completed entry form and the drawing to: Drawing Contest, P.O. Box 25559, Rochester, NY 14625-0559.

Winners, chosen from each of the 50 states, will receive an electronic sketch pad. The grand prize winner will win a personal computer, printer and software.

The winning Christmas Seals will be mailed to more than 30 million people during the 1996 Christmas Seals Campaign.

Victorian holiday decor is the theme of the Corbin Art Center’s 20th annual Juried Fine Arts and Crafts Christmas Sale, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
