Gillie Mae Anderson Spokane

Gillie Mae (Greenwood) Anderson, Spokane, recently turned 100 years old.

Born Nov. 20, 1895, in Princeton, Idaho, she has been a Northwest resident for 94 years, the past 15 years at her current residence.

She married Sophus B. Anderson in 1916. He died in 1980.

Mrs. Anderson was a full-time homemaker. She also worked for a telephone company in the early 1900s and for McKee Printing Co. as a book binder.

She has two daughters: Mrs. Paul Wallace and Mrs. Gerold F. Lamers, both of Spokane.

She also has five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-greatgrandchildren.

When asked to what she attributes her longevity, she replied, “Keeping active, enjoying my family and friends and playing mahjong for 50 years.”
