Jordan Steals Potential Win From Blazers

Michael Jordan sank a 16-foot jumper to put his team ahead with 28 seconds to play, then stole the ball from Arvydas Sabonis and scored on a breakaway stuff to give Chicago a wild 107-104 victory over the Blazers Monday night in Portland.

The Bulls, coming off a 97-92 loss at Seattle on Sunday night and on their fifth stop of a seven-game road trip, blew a 13-point lead in the final 6 minutes before Jordan pulled out the victory, scoring 14 of his 33 points in the final quarter.

Sabonis scored 23 points in 28 minutes for Portland. His 3-pointer with 2:50 left tied the game 102-102.

Karl Malone pulled down two defensive rebounds and made three free throws in the final 25 seconds, preserving a Utah victory over struggling Phoenix.

John Stockton had 22 points and 14 assists for the Jazz, who snapped a two-game losing streak. Malone had 25 points to move into 15th place in NBA career scoring.

Willie Anderson scored a season-high 26 points and Chris Mullin missed his attempt for a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer as Toronto beat Golden State.

B.J. Armstrong missed a 3-point try for Golden State with 3 seconds left, but Toronto’s Jan Tabak then missed a pair of free throws. Mullin got the ball with 2.3 seconds left and his shot bounced off the rim, giving the Raptors their third straight victory.
