Fedex Keeps Flying Despite Pilot Protest

Compiled From Wire Services

Federal Express reported no slowdown in package deliveries Tuesday after the first full workday amid a protest by union pilots.

Company fliers represented by the Air Line Pilots Association are refusing to volunteer for overtime during the holiday season, the cargo airline’s busiest time.

“It’s something we’re taking day by day, but we’ve certainly been encouraged by the fact that we’re getting more than adequate numbers of pilots to volunteer,” said Tom Martin, FedEx vice president for communications.

About half of the company’s 2,950 fliers are union members.
