Gates Gives Book Profits To Education

Compiled From Wire Services

Microsoft Corp. founder Bill Gates has a vision of future schools with teachers, students and parents linked by computers so they can discuss everything from homework to field trips.

And the world’s richest man announced Tuesday he’ll use the proceeds from his new book, “The Road Ahead,” to put his ideas into action with pilot education technology projects, starting at 22 schools this year.

The “Connected Learning Community” projects will involve creating high-tech links among students, teachers, parents and communities as a way to break down the four walls of the classroom, Gates said.
