Marvin Vandenberg Jr. Sandpoint

Memorial service for Marvin G. Vandenberg Jr., Sandpoint City Councilman, will be at 3 p.m. today at Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vandenberg, 45, who was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, died Sunday.

He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and attended Eastern Washington State University.

He was a coach for the Sandpoint Little League and enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports.

He served in the Air Force and was a member of the Washington Air National Guard. He was on the Sandpoint City Council for the past six years.

Survivors include his wife, Amber; three daughters, Kay and Kathi Vandenberg and Kimberly Montgomery, all of Sandpoint; three grandchildren, Raymond, Shellbie and Payton; his parents, Irene and Marvin Vandenberg Sr. of Coeur d’Alene; two brothers, Harold Vandenberg of Coeur d’Alene and Gary Vandenberg of Sandpoint; and two sisters, Kathy Epstein of Coeur d’Alene and Jean Berg of Spokane.

Clyde Gossett Spokane

Memorial service for Clyde V. Gossett, 74, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Mr. Gossett, who died last Wednesday, was a lifetime Spokane resident.

He was a civilian air technician for the federal government.

He was a member of Manito Masonic Lodge 246, the Scottish Rite Bodies, the El Katif Shrine, the South Spokane Shrine Club Auto Patrol, the Caravaners, the Legion of Honor and the Hillbillies.

He volunteered as a driver for Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He also served in the Korean and Vietnam wars.

His wife, Hazel Gossett, died in 1994.

Mr. Gossett is survived by one son, Glenn Gossett, and one daughter, Karen Chute, both of Spokane; and one sister, Norma Elliott of Hot Spring, Ark.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

Beatrice McCall Spokane

Creation is planned for Beatrice P. McCall. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McCall, 74, died Friday.

She was born in Hanford, Calif., and had lived in Spokane for 16 years. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Robert McCall, preceded her in death.

Mrs. McCall is survived by one son, Robert Greene of Spokane; one daughter, Janet Arnett of Spokane; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pansy Stahl Spokane

Memorial service for Pansy L. Stahl, 90, is set for 10 a.m. today at Riverview Care Center. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Lone Rock, Ore., Miss Stahl died Nov. 20.

She was an elementary school teacher and a member of Central United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two nephews, Iver Igelsrud of Littleton, Colo., and Roland Stahl of Onancock, Va.

Marie Ricard Uniontown, Wash.

Burial Mass for Marie Agnes Ricard, 91, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Uniontown. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ricard died Sunday at her daughter’s home in Uniontown.

She was born in Spokane and graduated from Holy Names Academy and Holy Names College, both in Spokane.

In 1927 she married Victor Ricard in Uniontown. They lived in Okanogan, and Bremerton, Wash., before settling in Uniontown in 1955.

Her husband died in 1966, and Mrs. Ricard moved from the family farm, east of Uniontown, into Uniontown.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Lyvonne Weiss of Tarzana, Calif., and Annie Jacobs of Uniontown; seven grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Zene Stillar Spokane

Service for Zene E. Stillar, 68, is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Northwood Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stillar died Sunday.

Born in International Falls, Minn., he had lived in Spokane for 50 years and served in the Air Force from 1966 until 1973.

He was a member of Northwood Presbyterian Church, the Reardan (Wash.) Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies, the El Katif Shrine Temple and the Director’s Staff, and the Legion of Honor.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Norleen Stillar; one son, Pepper “Zene” Stillar II of Kennewick; one daughter, Leslie McDaniel of East Wenatchee; two brothers, John Bickel of Didsbury, Alberta, and Patrick Stillar of International Falls; one sister, Oneta Sipp of Spokane; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

Pamela Smith Spokane

Service for Pamela Maureen Smith, 44, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Interment at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Miss Smith, who was born in San Antonio, Texas, died Saturday. She was a 20-year Spokane resident.

She is survived by two uncles, Floyd Smith of California and Roy Smith of Minnesota.

Raymond Lanier Ione, Wash.

Graveside service for Raymond P. Lanier, 77, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Riverside Cemetery in Ione. ShermanKnapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Coleman County, Texas, Mr. Lanier died Sunday.

He worked as a core driller in the Pend Oreille Mines and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 48 hears, Lelia Lanier, at home; one daughter, Peggy Rae Lanier of Atlanta; and one sister, Ruby Brown of Texas.

William Allen Clayton, Wash.

Memorial service for William John Allen, 79, is set for 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Mr. Allen, who was born in Canada, died Saturday.

He had worked as a welder for 29 years at Kaiser Aluminum in Trentwood.

He served in the merchant marine during World War II, and was a member of the Loon Lake (Wash.) Veterans of Foreign Wars.

His wife, Ina, died in 1993.

He is survived by four sons, Lonnie Bates of Clayton, Donny Allen of Tacoma, Jay Bates of Louisiana and Roger Brown of Georgia; three daughters, Kathy Barthelmeny of Louisiana, Beverly of New York and Donna Page of Georgia; one brother, Frank Allen of Coulee City, Wash.; one sister, Alice of College Place, Wash.; 25 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Esther Sherriffs Spokane

Graveside service for Esther R. Sherriffs, 90, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Scotland, Mrs. Sherriffs died Monday.

She had lived in Spokane for more than 71 years and was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 163, the Daughters of the Nile, the Women of Washington Water Power, Bundles for Britain and the Scotch Clubs.

Mrs. Sherriffs is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Thorson and Mildred “Millie” Pederson, both of Spokane; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Clara Larsen Spokane

Graveside service for Clara B. Larsen, 103, was Monday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Larsen, who was born in Denmark, died Friday.

She immigrated to the United States in 1912 and had lived in Spokane since 1916.

She helped form Danish Lodge No. 42 in Spokane and had held all offices in the lodge.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Larsen’s husband of 50 years, Sven Larsen, preceded her in death.

She is survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Elizabeth Scheuerman Endicott, Wash.

Service for Elizabeth Scheuerman, 88, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott, where she was a member. Burial will be at Endicott Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Scheuerman, who was born in Russia, died Sunday at Whitman Convalescent Center.

She had moved to Endicott with her family in 1911. She married Peter Scheuerman in Colfax in 1926 and was a homemaker. She also worked as a cook in the Winona and Endicott schools for 25 years.

One of her hobbies was crocheting and she made nearly 300 afghans for friends and family members.

Mrs. Scheuerman is survived by three daughters, LaVerne Despain and Florence Leinweber, both of Endicott, and Darlene Byers of Whitefish, Mont.; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Savilla Richeson Spokane

Memorial service for Savilla N. Richeson, 83, was Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Richeson, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Saturday.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and worked as a housekeeper for Holy Family Hospital. She retired in the 1970s.

Her first husband, Clyde Tedlie, and her second husband, John Richeson, both preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, Ted Tedlie of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Bernice Lucht of Spokane; one brother, Lester Richert of Sacramento, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Arthur Larison Kansas City, Mo.

Service for Arthur Lee Larison, 66, was held in Missouri. Burial was at Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor, Mo.

Mr. Larison, a former Spokane resident, died Friday. He was born in Windsor.

He served in the Army during the Korean War and moved to Spokane in 1969.

He worked for Wagstaff Engineering before moving to Kansas City in 1989.

He is survived by two sons, Mark and Edward Larison, and one daughter, Jane Larison, all of Spokane; and one grandson.
