NOTABLES

Grambling’s 64-0 win over Prairie View A&M was the 399th in the 54-year coaching career of Eddie Robinson. His first chance for No. 400 comes next Saturday at home against Mississippi Valley State. Prairie View, meanwhile, set a sorry standard for college football dropping its 51st straight game.

Brian Griese son of Hall of Fame quarterback Bob Griese, threw two touchdown passes in his first start as Michigan beat Miami of Ohio 38-19.

QUOTABLE

“I had planned to be upstairs, but I talked to (defensive coordinator) Bob Davie and he thought it would be better if I was on the field. Once the game was over, I felt pretty beat. Maybe it was a mistake to be on the field. I have a lot of discomfort now, but the greatest discomfort of all is losing.”

- Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz after his team fell to 3-2 by losing to Ohio State 45-26.
