Leno Wins Again

NBC’s “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” notched its fourth consecutive win over CBS’ “Late Show With David Letterman” and its seventh of the past 10 weeks. Despite Leno’s gains in recent weeks, Letterman wrapped up the calendar year in first place with a 5.0 rating/15 share, tied with ABC’s “Nightline” (5.0/14) and ahead of Leno’s 4.5/14.

A rating point equals 959,000 television households. A share is the percentage of TV sets tuned to a particular program.

ABC’s “Nightline” (4.6/13) was actually the highest-rated late-night show for the week of Sept. 11-17.
